Nanterre. The Nanterre Prosecutor's Office (France) yesterday requested the appearance before the Hauts-de-Seine criminal court of Moroccan PSG player Achraf Hakimi for the alleged rape of a woman in 2023, which the player denies, according to the club's Public Prosecutor's Office.

It is now up to the investigating judge to make his decision , the Nanterre prosecutor's office said, confirming a report in Le Parisien .

The 26-year-old player, a current Champions League winner with PSG, was investigated for rape and placed under judicial supervision in 2023, after being accused by a young woman of raping her at his home in Boulogne-Billancourt a few days earlier.

At the end of February 2023, the young woman went to a police station, where she stated that she had been raped, but without filing a formal complaint.

She explained that she met Achraf Hakimi in January 2023 on Instagram and that she went to his house in a VTC (transport vehicle with driver) requested by the player, a police source said at the time.

The woman claimed that Hakimi kissed her and groped her without her consent before raping her, according to the same source.

She added that she managed to get rid of him and that a friend, whom she contacted via text messages, came to pick her up.

The player's lawyer, Fanny Colin, considered the request incomprehensible and pointless in light of the report . For his part, Hakimi maintains his version, firmly denying the young woman's accusations.

According to litigator Colin, her client was the target of an extortion attempt and claimed that all of the woman's statements were false .

Trained at Real Madrid, Hakimi was a star player for Morocco at the 2022 World Cup, a semi-finalist in Qatar. He joined PSG in 2021, where he is one of the team's captains, following spells with Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan.

The son of a Moroccan cleaner and a street vendor, both of whom have lived in Spain since 1980, the player was born in Getafe, on the outskirts of Madrid.

Known for his speed, his verticality, and his passing, he is considered one of the best right-backs in the world.

Last May, Hakimi received the Marc-Vivien-Foé award, which designates the best African player in Ligue 1.

He was also instrumental in PSG's Champions League triumph, scoring the first goal of the final on May 31 against his former club, Inter Milan.
