Leagues Cup 2025: Who will advance and who will be eliminated from Liga MX?

As the 2025 Leagues Cup group stage nears its conclusion, the outlook for Liga MX teams remains wide open. Of the 18 Mexican clubs participating in the binational tournament, 14 still have a chance to advance to the next round. No team has secured qualification, and only four are mathematically eliminated.
The final matchday will be played between Tuesday and Thursday and will be decisive in determining which clubs will advance to the round of 16. Some teams depend solely on themselves, while others need a combination of results to stay in the competition.
Tigres , Juárez, Mazatlán, and Toluca have the advantage in their respective groups. They have earned points in their first two matches, and a win in the 90 minutes would virtually guarantee their passage to the next round. These four clubs have managed to manage their matches well, and remaining unbeaten puts them in a favorable position.

In the second tier are Pumas, Necaxa, and Pachuca . While their numbers still allow them to think about qualifying, they need to win their last match and for at least one of the teams listed above to lose in regulation or even a shootout.
Puebla, Tijuana, and América can still reach the next round, but their outlook is more complex. With only three points from two matches, they must win their next match in 90 minutes and hope that six teams above them lose. While difficult, the scenario is not impossible.
Rayados, Chivas, San Luis, and Cruz Azul only have two points, and their chances are reduced to a near-perfect combination. They need to win their final game in regulation and see nine higher-scoring teams lose. This group is on the brink of elimination, although the math still allows them to dream.
Eliminated teams
León, Santos, Atlas, and Querétaro are the only clubs that no longer have a chance of advancing. Of these, only León has managed to earn a point, while the other three have failed to secure a point in their two matches. These teams will play their final match solely to keep their schedule.
The final matchday of the 2025 Leagues Cup group stage remains a suspenseful one for most Mexican teams. With the exception of the four eliminated teams, all the other teams will be looking to close out the match with a victory and await the results that will determine their survival or exit from the competition.
