Christopher Judge dreams of Egypt for the future of God of War

Since the release of God of War Ragnarok , one question has been on fans' minds: what's next for Kratos? The Spartan god's story seemed to reach its most human point in the Norse saga, but now Christopher Judge himself, the voice and soul of the character, has once again ignited the public's imagination by confessing that he dreams of taking the saga to Ancient Egypt .
During his participation in the panel at the MCM Comic Con in London , Judge surprised the audience by sharing a personal wish:
“Going to Egypt would be like completing my circle. But whatever they decide… if there's another game, I have no doubt that, whatever the pantheon, it will be great.”
These words, while not confirming any official development, reflect an emotional connection between the actor and the character. Since taking on the role in 2018, Judge has been an essential part of the reinvention of Kratos, bringing depth and vulnerability to the warrior who previously knew only anger.
The closing of Ragnarok marked the end of the Norse journey, but Santa Monica Studio had already stated that the intention was always to tell that story in just two games. Therefore, the path is open to exploring a new pantheon of gods.
The possibility of Kratos facing Ra, Anubis, or Horus is appealing not only for its visual imagery but also for its narrative opportunities. Egyptian mythology offers fertile ground for discussing power, rebirth, and judgment, themes that fit perfectly with the protagonist's spiritual evolution.
Additionally, a change in mythology would mean a new tone for combat, enemies, and setting, allowing Santa Monica Studio to reinvent its formula again, just as it did in 2018.
For now, there is no official confirmation of a new God of War , although rumors suggest that Cory Barlog's team is working on two parallel projects : one related to the saga and another completely new one.
Recent reports indicate that Barlog is directing a title that "isn't a new IP, but will feel like one," thus dismissing the science fiction rumors. Meanwhile, another team within the studio may be experimenting with new ideas within the Kratos universe.
The free Valhalla expansion, released after Ragnarok , already hinted that the character's journey isn't over yet, and many players believe it was a symbolic transition into his next big journey.
For years, the community has dreamed of a God of War set in Egypt. Discarded concepts from the 2018 reboot already featured ruins, deserts, and Nile deities, which further bolsters this theory with Judge's words.
If Santa Monica decides to take Kratos to the desert, it would be a natural evolution: from Nordic cold to desert heat, from the end to rebirth. As the actor himself mentioned, "coming full circle" could symbolize both the conclusion of Kratos' arc and the rebirth of the franchise.
