With an event in a La Cámpora stronghold, Kicillof and the K's sought to cool down the fight and unify the campaign.

Following the tensions generated by the closing of the lists in the province of Buenos Aires, Peronism is making efforts to hide its differences and held its unity photo this Friday . To that end, Governor Axel Kicillof visited a territory controlled by La Cámpora and appeared with the mayor of Quilmes, Mayra Mendoza, one of Cristina Kirchner's loyalists.
The meeting, convened in defense of science and public education, was held at the National University of Quilmes and had generated expectations due to Mendoza's criticism of the governor.
"I want to thank Mayra Mendoza, the mayor, for welcoming us back to Quilmes," said the governor at the opening ceremony. He was accompanied by Vice Governor Verónica Magario and the Minister of Government, Carlos Bianco, and the Minister of Production, Augusto Costa.
The Camporista mayor had already distanced herself from Kicillof before the meeting, warning that her relationship with the governor is "institutional." Mendoza again blamed him for the splitting of the provincial elections as well as "the latest discussions."
This reference relates to the discussion over the lists, which led to disagreements over the token candidates. Cristina Kirchner opposed Magario's candidacy because the lieutenant governor would not be taking office in the Legislature. Despite this, Kicillof maintained his nomination.
The same situation occurs with several mayors of the Right to the Future Movement, such as Juan José Mussi (Berazategui), who is running for councilman, Fernando Espinoza (La Matanza), Jorge Ferraresi (Avellaneda), Andrés Watson (Varela) and Mario Secco (Ensenada), among others.
Mayra Mendoza appears third on the list of candidates for deputy in the Third Section, the Fuerza Patria front's main candidate in the Buenos Aires elections on September 7. And in this context, she emphasized: "They will not break us; there will be no way to prevent us, together, from continuing to carry out a national project like the one we experienced in Argentina just 10 years ago."
"We have to assume the responsibilities of representing: a candidate or a place on the list doesn't matter," added Cristina's protégé in the Province.
But it became clear after Friday's event that Peronism's strategy is to confront Javier Milei. "It's a plan to exterminate national industry, science, and technology," was one of the statements the governor made during Friday's event.
Before his meeting with Mayra Mendoza, Kicillof visited Lomas de Zamora, where he inaugurated construction work on the Gandulfo Hospital and a road tunnel. He took advantage of the event to accuse the government of having halted "a thousand critical sewage, housing, school, and road projects."
Kicillof's visit to Lomas and the photo with Otermín are no small matter considering that the governor visited a district previously under the command of Martín Insaurralde, who maintains his political ties to Máximo Kirchner, leader of La Cámpora.
Otermín was even mentioned as one of the interlocutors between Kicillof and Cristina Kirchner when the Peronist party met to proclaim its unity and reject the Supreme Court's decision upholding the former president's conviction in the Vialidad case.
"While the national government celebrates the suspension of construction work, we have a provincial government making a great effort to complete all the projects that benefit our residents," was the nod from the mayor, who maintains contact with Máximo Kirchner, to the governor.
Kicillof was accompanied at the event by his candidates for the Third Section, Vice Governor Magario and the mayor of Almirante Brown, Mariano Cascallares. Completing the photo was provincial senator Adrián Santarelli, a member of Insaurralde's party who managed to retain third place on the list of candidates for that chamber.
Both events highlighted the decision to remove the former president's situation from the political spotlight. She is serving house arrest as part of a six-year sentence handed down by the courts in a case of corruption in public works.
In addition, Kicillof led an event in La Matanza this Friday, along with Vice Governor Verónica Magario, where he opened an exhibition bringing together industrialists, SMEs, and entrepreneurs from the district.
