Fernández Noroña booed after a meeting in Querétaro

At the end of a press conference in the city of Querétaro, Senate President Gerardo Fernández Noroña was booed by diners sitting at outdoor tables at Restaurant 1810, located in the historic center of the Querétaro capital.
As he walked alongside Morena Senator Beatriz Robles and some of her supporters, several people began chanting in unison, "Out, out!" In response, supporters of Robles and Noroña tried to counter the boos with chants of support, while the legislator shook hands and took selfies with several people.
“Be happy,” was all Fernández Noroña said as he left the Andador Libertad, just a few meters from the state Government Palace.
During the press conference before the event, Fernández Noroña spoke about the state government's proposal to extract and purify water from the El Batán dam for human consumption. The initiative has been strongly criticized by Morena representative Gilberto Herrera, who warns that the water is contaminated.
Noroña asserted that the project is technically feasible, but considered it necessary to seek mechanisms to reduce treatment costs and make it accessible to the population.
The meeting with local media became tense when Fernández Noroña accused the journalists of responding to every criticism of the PAN government with questions about Morena.
"It's truly regrettable that journalists play such a dismal role, that they don't stand up, that they're not the opposition," he declared. He added that journalists must remember that their job is to report truthfully and that many of them work without labor rights.
"Let them not understand that we are not their adversaries... let them speak as if they were the owners of the media," he demanded.
Before concluding his speech, Fernández Noroña delivered a political message, stating that Morena will win the governorship of Querétaro in the 2027 elections.
