Heading into the Buenos Aires elections: Axel Kicillof and Mayra Mendoza shared the stage in Quilmes and called for public education.

Buenos Aires Governor Axel Kicillof shared an event in Quilmes with the local mayor, Mayra Mendoza , showing a gesture of unity after the chaotic closing of the lists in the Province of Buenos Aires. In this way, Kicillof entered the electoral campaign ahead of the elections on September 7.
At the " Bonaerense Meeting of Science and University ," held at the National University of Quilmes , Kicillof and Mendoza met as a gesture of unity, since the mayor answers to former President Cristina Kirchner. The Buenos Aires governor was accompanied by the vice governor, Verónica Magario ; his Minister of Government, Carlos Bianco; the Minister of Production, Science and Innovation, Augusto Costa ; and the Fuerza Patria legislative candidate for the Third Electoral Section, Facundo Tignanelli .
The mayor celebrated the event, saying: " It is an honor for our city to host this much-needed gathering to defend our science and our universities, and to put into context everything we are experiencing and the need for organization ." The Kirchnerist leader referred to the Education Financing Law enacted during Néstor Kirchner's administration and its subsequent updates, commenting: "With Cristina as president, we were able to see what defending public education means for building a country."
"The best way we know to let Javier Milei know that the people want to defend public education is through the ballot box. We want to defend science, public education, and democracy."
For his part, Kicillof arrived in Quilmes after visiting Lomas de Zamora, a district governed by Federico Otermín , also a Kirchnerist, to inaugurate the "Manuel Belgrano" Underpass and the expansion of the diagnostic sector of the "Luisa C. de Gandulfo" Provincial Hospital, in addition to delivering ambulances and technological resources to the medical center. Otermín acted as an intermediary between Kicillof and La Cámpora prior to the formation of the Fuerza Patria front.
" In the Province, we continue to muster all the necessary strength to defend the health care and public works our people need, halt the austerity measures, and build a future with more rights ," Kicillof said. Otermín, for his part, stated that " while the National Government celebrates the suspension of public works, the Province is making a great effort to complete all the projects that benefit its residents ."
Lomas de Zamora is strengthening its healthcare system thanks to the investment we are making with the municipality, a task that would be impossible with the adjustment model represented by Milei.
