2025 Argentine Elections, LIVE: Polls, single ballot, and campaign news this Thursday, October 16

Diego Santilli, the first candidate for La Libertad Avanza in the Buenos Aires province, lamented that his rival from Fuerza Patria didn't appear in the TN studios to debate their electoral platforms. Follow all the latest news about the 2025 elections in Argentina with Clarín's minute-by-minute coverage.
"Hey Jorge Taiana, did you stay silent during Diego Santilli's challenge? You lowered my price by being spicy!" wrote the La Libertad Avanza candidate on social media when she saw that the Peronist candidate did not show up for the debate with Santilli.
Before the court ruled that Diego Santilli could lead the Libertarian slate in the province, Taiana had challenged Reichardt to a debate in a social media post where she questioned his real name.
Representative and senatorial candidate Esteban Paulón stated that President Javier Milei "doesn't believe in Congress or democracy; he's an autocratic president. They are a nuisance on the path to the reforms he wants to implement."
"The government became obsessed with the macroeconomy and ignored everything, thinking that people are cells in an Excel spreadsheet. Behind that are doctors, nurses, patients, and families," he added in El Destape.
After Taiana missed the candidates' debate on TN last night, Santilli sent him a message on social media: "It's a shame Jorge Taiana didn't dare to debate. He can't handle responding."
"Are you in favor of criminals? Are you in favor of dictatorships? Are you in favor of the intermediation of social plans? Are you in favor of labor reform?" the libertarian candidate questioned on his X account and noted: "Clearly you don't have the nerve to defend live the model that plunged us into poverty and misery."
It's a shame @JorgeTaiana didn't dare to debate. He can't bear to answer: Are you in favor of criminals? Are you in favor of dictatorships? Are you in favor of the intermediation of social programs? Are you in favor of labor reform?

Nicolás del Caño, the candidate for national deputy for the Left Front in the province of Buenos Aires, rejected the national government's agreement with the United States. "The United States' economic support comes with a request for reforms," del Caño warned on Radio 10 this morning.
Representative and senatorial candidate Facundo Manes stated that "people are disillusioned with the president, who has become the very same caste he came to oust," and he criticized the government for "not having a comprehensive economic plan."
"Milei has become the leader of the caste," he insisted in an interview with Radio Rivadavia, adding: "Milei and Cristina are two sides of the same coin."
Because seats for Representatives and Senators are at stake, because there are candidates known like no other district, and because the impact of the Single Paper Ballot (BUP) is unpredictable, the national election in the City of Buenos Aires is generating particular anticipation for Sunday the 26th. And three new polls accessed by Clarín this week add to the tension and uncertainty. Read on.
Last night, Diego Santilli, the first LLA candidate in the province of Buenos Aires, appeared on the TN floor to debate with Jorge Taiana, but the Peronist candidate leading the list in that same district did not show up. The show's hosts explained that they had invited him, and Taiana had promised to attend; however, at the last minute, he announced he would not be present.
"I deeply regret that Taiana isn't here today to debate. Because today we need to be discussing what model, whether you're in favor of insecurity or the Penal Code, whether you're in favor of dictatorships or democracy, what model of country we want. Whether we want formal employment, poverty managers, or ending intermediation as the President did," Santilli said at the beginning of what ended up being an interview.
A few days ago, while the Electoral Court was still deciding whether Santilli would be the head of the Libertarian ticket following José Luis Espert's resignation, "Colo" invited Taiana to debate, and the Peronist candidate responded on social media: "When it's confirmed whether you're really going to be the candidate heading the ticket, I have no problem debating, as you say, wherever and whenever you want."
Donald Trump's conditional support for Javier Milei, contingent on the election result, strengthened the favorable climate for Fuerza Patria due to the government's string of blunders just a week before the campaign closes. Peronist leaders are discounting a victory in the province of Buenos Aires and are even emboldened by winning nationwide, in this case based on the criteria for calculating the votes for each party in the 24 districts.
