Notre Dame Cathedral has received more than 6 million visitors

Paris' Notre Dame Cathedral has welcomed more than 6 million visitors since reopening in December following a 2019 fire , making it France's most visited monument .
Figures published this Sunday by La Tribune Dimanche indicate that France's most famous temple welcomed 6.015 million people since it reopened to the public by June 30, an average of 35,000 people per day.
The reopening to the public began on December 16th , following a series of invitation-only celebrations and events that began on December 7th.
These figures mean that " Notre Dame is today the most visited monument in France ," the cathedral 's rector, Olivier Ribadeau Dumas , told the publication.
- The temple manager also stated that each month there is an average of 1,000 more people per day than the previous month .

At this rate, the cathedral will end the year with 12 million visitors . By comparison, the Louvre Museum had 8.7 million last year, while the Palace of Versailles registered 8.7 million and the Eiffel Tower 6.3 million, although the cathedral is free and is much quicker to visit than those three icons of Parisian tourism.
The reopening of the cathedral after the extremely serious fire of April 15, 2019, did not mark the end of the restoration work , as it continues on some walls of the north side and the apse, and will continue for several years.
