IMSS recommendations for taking care of your health during the rainy season

The rainy season brings peace of mind to many, but also illness, so care must be intensified.

The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) recommends the population avoid sudden changes in temperature, consume foods with high content of Vitamin C and D, fruits, vegetables, in addition to drinking plenty of fluids .

It is also very important to wash your hands frequently with soap and water, maintain proper sneezing etiquette, avoid greeting with a kiss, and avoid spending too much time in closed and crowded spaces. .

The most common diseases at this time are :

• Rhinopharyngitis
• Laryngitis
• Bronchiolitis, especially in children
• Pneumonia
• Symptoms of acute bronchitis
• Bronchial asthma
• Influenza in adults

At the Social Security Institute, consultations for respiratory infections increase during the rainy season , so they urged the most vulnerable populations, such as older adults, children, pregnant women, and people with chronic degenerative diseases, to protect themselves.

They also reminded people not to self-medicate and prevent complications from this cause ; they indicated that at the slightest symptom, people should consult their family doctor to avoid bronchial or pulmonary symptoms that cause respiratory distress syndromes.

Very heavy rains with intense rainfall (75 to 150 mm):	Sonora (northeast and east).
Heavy rain with very heavy rainfall (50 to 75 mm):	Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Sinaloa, Puebla and Veracruz.
Showers with heavy rain (25 to 50 mm):	Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, Nayarit, Aguascalientes, Zacatecas, San Luis Potosí, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Hidalgo, State of Mexico, Tlaxcala, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Guerrero, Morelos, Mexico City, Oaxaca, Chiapas and Quintana Roo.
Intervals of showers (5 to 25 mm):	Tabasco, Campeche and Yucatan.
Isolated showers (0.1 to 5 mm):	Baja California and Baja California Sur.
