EDE Council says there is progress in losses

The Unified Council of Electricity Distribution Companies (CUED) acknowledged this Monday the problem posed by the losses at the three public companies , but asserted that there has been measurable and verifiable progress in improving this indicator.
In a letter of response to the president of the Diario Libre Group , Aníbal de Castro, for the publication " The Government fails to stop losses in electricity distributors ", the president of CUED, Celso Marranzini, stated that the growth in losses is currently the lowest in five years , evidencing a tendency towards reversal .
In the document, Marranzini confirms the reduction in losses at Edenorte , which went from 26.1 to 25% .
"In Edeeste, historically the most affected, it fell from 55% to 54.5%, despite having to purge a database altered by the previous manager, who manipulated invoices" Celso Marranzini President of CUED "
Regarding Edesur , he explained that the increase in losses was due to the elimination of contracts with large, unregulated users who purchased energy below purchase price. He said the agreements allowed sales at $0.07 per kilowatt, generating significant losses that artificially altered its performance.
In his letter he highlighted the following:
4.3 billion pesos invested in 2,024,494 kilometers of rehabilitated networks; 639,000 meters with smart systems installed; 353,000 new contracts formalized; nearly 100,000 users integrated in historically excluded sectors
Record annual revenue of $2.04 billion
The official revealed that in some areas, up to 30% of customers are connected illegally . "Faced with this reality, the CUED has deployed operations, legal proceedings, disconnections , and the incorporation of new technologies. It's impossible to move forward if those who don't pay for energy continue to receive it without restrictions," he stated.
