For a just and lasting peace, the round table promoted by CISL in Riccione

Riccione – "For a just and lasting peace." This is the title, but also the ideal manifesto, of the round table discussion promoted by Fisascat Cisl on November 11th in Riccione, opening the work of the federation's General Council, scheduled for November 11th and 12th.
This event is part of the "Marathon for Peace," a campaign launched by the CISL (Italian Union of Workers' Unions) to reaffirm the role of the labor market and union representation in building a peace based on dialogue, rights, and social justice.
In a time marked by international crises and an ever-expanding geography of conflict—from the Middle East to Ukraine, from Sudan to Myanmar, from Yemen to Ethiopia—reflection on peace, Fisascat emphasizes, is no longer just a topical issue, but "an ethical and social imperative."
The meeting's goal is ambitious: to bring together diverse voices and expertise to analyze the roots of conflict and identify paths to reconciliation based on respect for the dignity of every human life.
The meeting will be opened by Davide Guarini, Secretary General of Fisascat Cisl, while speakers include prominent figures from the political and academic world: Senator Stefania Craxi, Chair of the Senate Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee; Vittorio Emanuele Parsi , Professor of International Relations; Pina Picierno , Vice President of the European Parliament; and Sandro Gozi, Chair of the EU-UK Parliamentary Partnership Assembly Delegation. The debate will be moderated by Quotidiano Nazionale journalist Simone Arminio, and the closing remarks will be delivered by Daniela Fumarola, Secretary General of the CISL.
The Riccione event represents a crucial stage in the Marathon for Peace, which will culminate on November 15th in Rome with the CISL National Assembly. On that occasion, the confederation will donate the funds raised to the Italian Red Cross to support the civilian populations of Gaza and the West Bank. This concrete gesture reinforces the message that will accompany the entire event: peace is not proclaimed, it is built—through work, solidarity, and the courage of dialogue.
