Cinema, opposition protests against Giuli: "The government wants to demolish the industry."

Opposition to the attack by the Minister of Culture, Alessandro Giuli , following the article in Repubblica which reported the email in which he asked the Ministry of Economy and Finance to make further cuts to the cinema sector.
Democratic Party MP Matteo Orfini comments: "What Repubblica reported is disturbing: like Sangiuliano did in his time, Giuli also asked the Ministry of Economy and Finance to cut funding for the cinema industry. Unfortunately, this is yet another confirmation that we're not dealing with a mistake but rather a policy: demolishing a national industrial sector because it's unwelcome to the government. The cuts and new rules will be a gravestone for Italian cinema, to the benefit of foreign productions that are left untouched: a true masterpiece for a sovereignist government."
The Five Star Movement, through MP Gaetano Amato , is demanding that Giuli "come to the Chamber to urgently report on what was reported today by Repubblica . This is a matter of unprecedented gravity and cannot be ignored. If confirmed, we would be faced with a minister who not only lied to the cultural sector and public opinion, but who even urged the Ministry of Economy to make further cuts to the cinema industry. Even in an official email.
Elisabetta Piccolotti of AVS speaks of a "ministry against Culture": "We've never seen a minister demanding more cuts than those imposed by the Minister of Economy on the sector he should be protecting and promoting," she comments. "From what we read in today's Repubblica , even this taboo has been dispelled by Minister Giuli. Rename it 'Ministry against Culture'—you'd be more honest. When will President Meloni decide to give Italy a Minister of Culture worthy of our country?"
