The Night of San Lorenzo. Villages, hills, and vineyards where you can gaze at the sky.

August 8, 2025
The week-long "Night of San Lorenzo" is celebrated in the Oltrepò Pavese area with starlit events amidst villages, hills, and vineyards. From today until August 13th, tastings, music, astronomical observations, and markets will enliven the evenings, offering a unique opportunity to admire the heavens. The Cà del Monte planetarium in Cecima hosts a special evening on Sunday, where live music, legendary constellations, the moon, and shooting stars intertwine in a thrilling show featuring music by Irish composer and musician Conal Doyle. Tonight in Casteggio, the historic Certosa Cantù hosts the "Calici di Stelle" event, while on Sunday, Golferenzo will transform into the Borgo dei Desideri (The Village of Desires): a romantic, timeless experience amidst cobbled alleys, soft lighting, and wishes entrusted to the stars. Villa Isimbardi in the Castello di Santa Giuletta hamlet hosts the "Starry Path" on Sunday from 5 pm: an immersion in nature, wine, and local flavors, with the spectacular starry sky as the star. And in Calvignano, the lights will be turned off to illuminate the stars with wine and local product tastings accompanied by guided observations. In Cigognola, on Sunday, the Wine Nights bring together food, wine, and stars. Finally, on Wednesday the 13th, the historic center of Varzi will come alive with a market under the stars.
