Small museums: €1.9 million from the Ministry of Culture to promote local businesses. Three projects funded in Puglia.

Strengthening the network of small Italian museums , authentic strongholds of knowledge and widespread identity, is the aim of the initiative promoted by the Ministry of Culture , led by Alessandro Giuli , which has allocated a fund of 1.9 million euros for 2025 for the operation and promotion of these cultural institutions.
Support for local museumsThe financial contribution is aimed at regional, provincial, civic, or private museums , managed by public bodies or third sector entities and non-profit organizations , with annual revenues not exceeding €50,000 . These are permanent, non-profit institutions that conduct research, conservation, interpretation, and exhibition of tangible and intangible heritage.
The call for proposals favored museums that, in addition to being open to the public for at least 24 hours a week (or 100 days a year in the case of seasonality), promoted initiatives aimed at the local community in the two-year period 2022-2023 and had active digital channels for communicating and promoting their activities.
Projects funded in PugliaOf the 28 projects accepted nationwide, three are in Puglia , a testament to the vibrant and quality of the region's cultural offerings. In Cerignola , in the province of Foggia, the Torre Alemanna Monumental Complex will receive €100,000 for improvements to its reception and visitor experience. In Cavallino (Lecce), the Cavallino Diffused Museum will receive €90,000 for new exhibition and information facilities, while in Castrignano de' Greci (Lecce), the Public Museum of Contemporary Art will receive €10,149 for cultural promotion and mediation.
Enhance local identity and accessibilityAs underlined by the Ministry, the funds will be used to support targeted interventions for welcoming visitors , promoting local heritage , creating innovative communication tools and removing architectural barriers , thus promoting broader and more inclusive access to culture.
The goal, explains the MiC, is to " strengthen the social function of small museums , ensuring their sustainability and promoting the participation of local communities in the protection and transmission of Italy's cultural heritage."
