TFA Support transferred to Troia, the PD of Foggia asks the university to step back

The Democratic Party of Foggia expresses concern and regret for the decision of the University of Foggia to transfer part of the TFA Sostegno courses to Troia.

"A choice that risks penalizing dozens of students - the Democrats write -, both those who live in the capital or neighboring municipalities, and those who come from other provinces. The transfer involves concrete economic and logistical inconveniences, linked to the costs and times of travel, and could make it difficult for candidates who already face sacrifices to complete their training to participate. We are talking, in most cases, about people who work, who have families and who experience this opportunity as an investment in their professional future and in the value of school inclusion.

In addition to the impact on individuals, it should not be overlooked that similar decisions can influence the general balance of the local university system, taking away activities and presences that until now have contributed, even indirectly, to the economic and social vitality of Foggia. In an already fragile context, it is essential that each choice takes into account its broader implications on the territory.

Decisions of this magnitude must be taken with a preventive and transparent discussion with the communities involved and university courses, especially those aimed at those who already work in schools, must be designed and organised by placing accessibility, sustainability and coherence with the real needs of students and territories at the centre".

And the Democratic Party concludes: "For this reason, we ask the University of Foggia to rethink and open a serious dialogue with institutions, students and social partners, so that balanced solutions can be identified, respectful of the people involved and of the educational identity of the university. The TFA Sostegno is a fundamental tool for ensuring quality and inclusion in Italian schools. It is the duty of everyone - universities, institutions, communities - to ensure that it remains accessible, effective and truly at the service of the common good".
