M aximum sentence for Taulant Malaj, the Albanian baker who two years ago killed his daughter Jessica , 16, and her neighbor, Massimo De Santis , accused without any basis of having a relationship with Tefta Malaj, the defendant's wife. The Court of Assizes of Foggia has imposed a life sentence with daytime isolation of one year and six months, in addition to the security measure of probation equal to three years.

The man, 47, was accused of double voluntary homicide and attempted homicide with multiple aggravating factors committed in Torremaggiore on May 7, 2023. Malaj stabbed his daughter and neighbor to death. The young woman died while trying to defend her mother, who was injured, from her father's fury. A bloody event that occurred before the eyes of the couple's other son, who was 5 years old at the time.

The trial began on March 22, 2024 before the Court of Assizes of the Foggia tribunal where in recent days the prosecution had requested a life sentence for the defendant with daytime isolation of one year and 6 months.

Lawyer Roberto De Rossi, who assisted Tefta Malaj, the woman has since changed her surname, has never considered "credible the thesis, advanced by the defense, of a mental defect of the defendant attributable to a sleep disorder. The behaviors carried out immediately after the murder highlighted the presence of cognitive and discernment abilities, supported during the trial by the testimony of the forensic psychiatrist, Luigi Esposto , who visited the defendant in prison, excluding the presence of psychiatric pathologies".
