“Lastaria will not close, it will be strengthened”: Piemontese reassures Lucera. Tutolo is satisfied

“ The Lucera hospital is not closing but, on the contrary, it will be strengthened”. This was declared by the regional health councillor, Raffaele Piemontese , and the regional councillor of Per la Puglia, Antonio Tutolo, who, on the subject, had asked for clarification. “We have clarified what has never existed – said Piemontese – that is, that we have no intention of closing the Lucera Lastaria hospital complex, part of the Policlinico Riuniti of Foggia. Over the course of these months and weeks – he continued – with my colleague we have also worked on strengthening some sectors, despite the difficulty of finding doctors. In Oncology we have identified a good professional who already works for the regional health system that we want to move to Lucera, as well as for Cardiology. For Internal Medicine the competition is underway, the head of personnel of the Policlinico has assured us that the commission will complete the procedures quickly”.

Tutolo is satisfied, "because we started this strengthening operation when I was mayor and he was a councilor. I wanted to reassure the territory because those who have an illness, such as cancer, already have psychological difficulties, if we add this kind of anxiety we are not doing them any good".
