This is Old Chelsea Square: an outdoor, relaxation and gastronomic destination that alone is worth a getaway to the Outaouais.

As the hot summer days drag on and the landscapes of Gatineau Park soon take on their most beautiful colors, Old Chelsea Square presents itself as the ideal destination for combining hiking, moments of relaxation and culinary discoveries in the Outaouais.
Just 15 minutes from downtown Ottawa, this tiny neighborhood in Old Chelsea Village offers an enchanting setting where you can drop your bags in a bright loft and explore without having to use your vehicle. Here are our tips for making the most of this all-in-one experience.
Privileged access to a vast playgroundCoffee in hand, a few steps are all it takes to enter the vast territory of Gatineau Park. The green lung of the Outaouais, which stretches over 360 km 2 , lends itself to a variety of activities, such as hiking, cycling, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and swimming. And with over 200 km of forest trails accessible during the summer, the opportunities to stretch your legs are as numerous as they are varied.
For a walk combining picturesque landscapes and a deep dive into history, venture onto the Chute and Lauriault trails. Interestingly, this 4.5 km loop was part of the ritual of William Lyon Mackenzie King, who served as Prime Minister of Canada three times between 1921 and 1948, when he lived on the estate. A visit to the ruins and his former summer residence is not to be missed.
Several places to fill your stomachAfter a good night's sleep in the comfort of the village lofts, there's nothing like starting the day with a latte and a smoothie accompanied by a pastry or a more substantial lunch at Biscotti & Cie. On sunny days, the establishment's terrace is a favorite spot for early risers, who enjoy its charm before heading out to take on a sporting challenge in Gatineau Park.
At aperitif time, the atmosphere heats up on the Terrasse du Square, where the newly opened installations serve as a backdrop for lively conversations between cyclists and passing visitors. On the menu, you can enjoy cocktails featuring liqueurs and spirits from the Distillerie du Square, a selection of tacos, and not forgetting Bella Ciao ice cream! Outdoor shows even take place there on certain evenings.
Next door, the Chelsea Pub is also a great place to enjoy a pleasant atmosphere and enjoy comfort food.
A cocoon conducive to relaxationWant to treat yourself to a reading session or share a drink on your little terrace after a nature outing? Nestled in a wooded area, the Lofts du Village offer a peaceful and bright setting to enjoy an intimate getaway. Some units even accept pets, so you might also want to plan a little outdoor getaway with your furry friend.
