Noah Lyles, Kenny Bednarek and Gabrielle Thomas have also signed up to compete at Athletissima on August 20! The organizers of the meeting, present during the weekend at the American Trials in Eugene, took advantage of the trip to sign several stars who will light up the meeting on August 20 in Lausanne, particularly in the sprint.
The Pontaise 100m will have the feel of a world or Olympic final. Olympic champion Noah Lyles (USA) and two-time Olympic 200m runner-up Kenny Bednarek (USA), who won the straight on Saturday at the Trials, will be at the start, facing Jamaicans Kishane Thompson and Oblique Seville.
Thompson is the fastest of the year, having clocked 9.75 seconds in Kingston at the end of June. Bednarek's runner-up in Oregon, Courtney Lindsey (9.82 seconds) will also be in the race, as will, as already announced, the 2021 Olympic champion, Italian Marcell Jacobs. Swiss Timothé Mumenthaler, European 200m champion, will have to hold his own against all these stars.
The 100m at Athletissima, the penultimate leg of the 2025 Diamond League, will be branded a Diamond League+ discipline, with increased finish bonuses.
In the 110m hurdles, American Cordell Tinch, this season's No. 1 with a time of 12.87 seconds, will be the favorite. Athletissima also announces the arrival of his compatriot Trey Cunningham, Spaniard Henrique Llopis, and the weekend's sensation, Just Kwaou-Mathey, who set the record straight at the French championships (12.99 seconds, 2nd fastest time in 2025). Swiss record holder Jason Joseph will have his say in this race.
The women's 200m will feature Olympic champion Gabrielle "Gabby" Thomas (USA), Great Britain's Dina Asher-Smith, Jamaica's Shericka Jackson, the second fastest woman in history, and of course, as already announced, Olympic 100m champion Julien Alfred (St. Lucia).
All the best will also be there in the women's category: world record holder and Olympic champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh (UKR), her great Australian rivals Nicola Olyslagers and Eleanor Patterson, and Serbian Angelina Topic, among others. Three weeks before the Tokyo World Championships, the Lausanne meeting has everything it takes to produce some great achievements.
