The news comes just over a year after the airline launched domestic operations in the country. The new direct routes from Cali and Medellín to Punta Cana will have six weekly flights between the two cities and prices starting at 764,000 Colombian pesos and 691,000 Colombian pesos, respectively, for the final leg, including taxes and fees, for flights from December 5, 2025, to March 26, 2026. This promotion will be valid from August 5 to August 11, 2025.
Additionally, from these two cities , connections will be available from Bogotá, Cartagena, Santa Marta, and Santiago to Punta Cana.
The announcement comes at a time of historic growth for air transportation in Colombia. According to figures from the Civil Aeronautics Authority, more than 18.2 million passengers were transported between January and April 2025 , 3.4 percent more than the same period last year, positioning air transportation as a key driver of connectivity, tourism, and the country's economy.
“We have set a goal for air travel to reach every corner of South America, and we are achieving that goal. Today, in addition to the new international routes from Colombia, we are demonstrating a solid position, reaffirming our commitment to access to flying. In just one year, we opened two operational bases: Bogotá and Medellín; we brought in nine aircraft; we launched 17 routes and 10 destinations, serving more than 4.4 million passengers, 17 percent of whom reported traveling by plane for the first time; and we have driven average fare reductions of between 15 percent and 25 percent on the routes we operate. With this new milestone, we inaugurate our operation to Central America and the Caribbean from Colombia, reaffirming our commitment to stimulating the market, offering real benefits to travelers, and, in turn, having a positive economic and social impact: more investment, more tourism, more jobs, and more connectivity,” said Estuardo Ortiz, Founder & CEO of JetSmart.

The company currently has four aircraft based in Medellín and plans to add two more before the end of the year.
The airline expects to close 2025 with 12 aircraft operating in Colombia, six in Bogotá and six in Medellín, transporting a total of seven million passengers, which would represent a 71 percent increase compared to 2024.
“After our first year of operations in Colombia, we have established ourselves as the country's third-largest domestic carrier, with an 11 percent market share. In June 2025, we were the airline with the fastest year-over-year growth, increasing the number of passengers by 70 percent compared to the same month last year,” said Mario García, Country Manager of JetSmart.
