Welfare Pension: What we know about the Christmas bonus payment to beneficiaries in 2025

As the final months of the year approach, many people begin preparing for their Christmas bonus, a benefit that Mexican workers are legally entitled to. However, a question has arisen among beneficiaries of the Welfare Pension for Older Adults: Will they also receive a Christmas bonus in 2025?

According to the Federal Labor Law , the Christmas bonus is a labor right that must be paid before December 20 and is equivalent to at least 15 days' salary. This benefit applies exclusively to active workers or pensioners under certain schemes.

For example, IMSS pensioners under the pre-1997 regime or Law 1973 are entitled to receive an additional monthly Christmas bonus . However, those who are pensioners under the current law do not have this benefit. ISSSTE pensioners, on the other hand, receive up to 40 days of pension in two installments: one in November and the other in January of the following year.

However, According to official sources, beneficiaries of the Welfare Pension do not receive a Christmas bonus. Since it is a social program and not a workplace pension scheme, this financial support does not include additional benefits such as Christmas pay. That is, by the end of 2025, there will be no additional Christmas bonus deposit for people enrolled in this program managed by the Ministry of Welfare .

Those receiving the Welfare Pension should note that there will be no double payment or bonus this year-end , as the program maintains a regular schedule of bimonthly deposits, with no changes due to holidays.

When is the next Welfare Pension payment?

The Ministry of Welfare has not reported on the payments for the following period, and therefore, The next deposit of 6,200 pesos per two-month period is expected to occur in November. (which includes the month of December), thus closing the 2025 payment cycle.
