Will Capaldo be Reis’s replacement at HSV?

Two weeks ago, Hamburger SV said goodbye to Ludovit Reis, who was sent to Club Bruges, receiving almost five million euros for the transfer following his investment in his former club FC Barcelona. Now a replacement seems to have been found: Nicolas Capaldo, a 26-year-old Argentinian from Red Bull Salzburg, is in their sights.

In the first tests of the still young pre-season in Elstorf (8:1) and Oldenburg (2:1), coach Merlin Polzin tested Aboubaka Soumahoro, who had been brought in as a central defender, and Daniel Elfadli, who had been converted to a central defender in January, for one half each in the number six position, then brought on chief strategist Jonas Meffert after the break - will he compete with Nicolas Capaldo for his place in the future?
After three departures in the center there is a needThe "Hamburger Abendblatt" was the first to report interest in the versatile midfielder on Wednesday. Capaldo can play in the midfield position, but can also play in the number eight role. He has also helped out at right-back.

The German women's team won their second match of the European Championship – but still, not everything is going perfectly. Kicker reporter Paul Bartmuß explains what still needs to change to make it far beyond the group stage.
Reis filled the number eight position, particularly with a high level of intensity when winning the ball. Salzburg signed the former Argentine youth international from Boca Juniors in 2021 for €4.5 million. Since then, he has made 83 appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga, scoring 12 goals and providing nine assists. The 1.77-meter-tall right-footer has made 22 appearances in the Champions League.
In Hamburg there is a needCapaldo's contract with Red Bull runs until 2026. This means that, like HSV with Reis, Salzburg can only secure a transfer fee for the player this summer. Hamburg's need for a central midfielder isn't just due to the vice-captain's departure to Belgium.
Marco Richter (on loan from Mainz) was another eight-man move, and the option to buy Adam Karabec (on loan from Sparta Prague) was also not exercised. In addition, Immanuel Pherai was extremely injury-prone in his first two seasons on the Elbe.
The three central departures are offset by only one new arrival in the center, Nicolai Remberg . Although the former Kiel player arrived in Hamburg before Reis's final sale, he was not considered a potential replacement by those in charge, including sporting director Stefan Kuntz. Capaldo could now fill that role.
