Following Häberli's departure, assistant coach Bojan Drmic and forward coach Alexandre Alphonse temporarily assumed responsibility for the team, but the hoped-for turnaround never materialized. During the week, Servette lost 3-1 at home to Utrecht in the first leg of the third qualifying round of the Europa League. The breakthrough also failed to materialize on Sunday in the home game against Grasshoppers: In the home game against Grasshoppers, Servette missed a penalty and only managed to equalize late on to a (well-deserved) 1-1 draw.
Before the draw against Grasshoppers, Servette had lost four games in a row, conceding an average of more than four goals per game. Now Gourvennec, who almost became coach of Young Boys last season, must find a way out of the crisis with last year's league runner-up.
