Building wealth with stocks: How much money do I need to stop working?

A friend recently asked me, "Is the question 'How much money do I need to stop working' a topic of conversation among women?" I thought for a moment: indeed, not. I talk to women very often about money, but very rarely about financial independence. Much more often, it's about security, usually about avoiding poverty in old age.
