A fine shot.

Things are going well for FC Bayern, and so is Serge Gnabry. In the first few games of this season, the German international is delivering, driving the Munich team from victory to victory. In doing so, he's also making a case for a new contract with the record champions.
Serge Gnabry is currently astonishing himself. In FC Bayern Munich's 5-0 win over Hamburger SV, the German national soccer player continued his strong start to the World Cup season. The 30-year-old opened the scoring for the German champions in the Bundesliga top match in the third minute. "It's great that the ball went in like that," he said of his brilliant shot from a tight angle. "I don't know why I shot that, to be honest," the striker said in a Sky interview. "So it just went in like that today. It was a really strong shot," the happy scorer said.
Things are going well for Bayern – and also for Gnabry. It was his second goal in just three league matches. He also scored for the national team in the 3-1 win against Northern Ireland. Gnabry is blossoming – and he's using it to advertise himself and a new contract. His current one expires at the end of the season. Sporting director Max Eberl, however, didn't want to bring the issue up so early in the season. Even though the Bayern bosses are extremely pleased with Gnabry's development. "He has now consistently proven that Serge can be an exceptional player," said Eberl.
Eberl didn't comment specifically on the plans for Gnabry or when talks might begin. He only said: "Serge is a fundamentally important player at the moment." In the center, where he's been used more frequently by coach Vincent Kompany this season, he can "show off his cleverness even more," praised sporting director Eberl.
When asked about the reasons for his flow, Gnabry had to pass. "I haven't changed anything, I'm training the same way, I'm pushing myself. As an athlete, you have to have a bit of luck on your side for it to work out." He's "in a good mood, healthy, I feel good, and the confidence is coming along. I'm in the flow."
He now intends to continue this trend in the special Champions League opener against Club World Cup winners Chelsea next Wednesday (9 p.m./DAZN and in the live ticker at ntv.de) . "This is the competition that appeals to us the most," Gnabry openly admitted. "We want to give it our all. We have a strong team."
