Local elections: Polling stations open: Vote on local politics in NRW
In North Rhine-Westphalia, polling stations have opened for the local elections . Nearly 14 million eligible voters are called upon to vote for mayors, district administrators, and councils of municipal parliaments.
At stake are approximately 20,000 seats in the municipal parliaments of the 396 cities and municipalities, the 31 districts, and the Ruhr Parliament of the Ruhr Regional Association. Mayors, Lord Mayors, District Administrators, as well as city, municipal, and integration councils, district councils, and district representatives in independent cities are elected.
The local elections in the most populous federal state are the last major elections this year in Germany and are considered the first test of the political mood after the early federal elections last February.
