Commerzbank: Negotiations about a possible move out of the Commerzbank Tower

The options under consideration are, on the one hand, an extension of the lease, and on the other hand, a move-out when the current lease expires in 2032. Commerzbank is currently exploring ways to reduce its costs and fend off a potential takeover by the Italian bank UniCredit .
The Commerzbank Tower, named after the bank, was built in Frankfurt am Main between 1994 and 1997 and has served as its headquarters ever since. However, in 2016, as part of a restructuring following its state-backed bailout during the financial crisis, Commerzbank had to sell the building to the investment firm Samsung SRA for nearly €600 million. A 15-year lease was signed at the time.
