The Luxury of Wellness in Los Cabos, Mexico

“What does wellness mean to you?” Flor Daneu’s soft voice asks in my headphones as I lie on a candlelit overlook in Los Cabos. “Maybe wellness is having time to yourself,” the co-creator of SUDA continues, as she plays soothing sounds on singing bowls. “The luxury of these days is time for you. These days are a gift for you.”
Giving myself the gift of quality time in a beautiful destination is something I can definitely get on board with. And Los Cabos, at the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California Sur, where desert mountains meet the sea, is a pretty spectacular place to spend that time.
During an immersive wellness week that includes stays at both Four Seasons properties in Los Cabos, I fully embrace the idea that luxury, too, is the gift of time for yourself. It is a welcome break from my real life, which does not normally include sunrise yoga at sea and sunset sound healing.
Luxury and Wellness at Your Own Pace
As Global Wellness Day approaches this month, it’s worth considering the day’s core message: Wellness doesn’t need to be complicated. It can be as easy as slowing down, eating well, exercising, and getting a good night’s sleep.
For me, easy wellness means joining a retreat where the itinerary is mapped out in advance, an offering Four Seasons Resort Cabo Del Sol will soon offer. But you can also enjoy luxury wellness in Los Cabos your own way, at your own speed. It has no shortage of world-class spas, outdoor wellness opportunities, and nature-based adventures.
Soak up the Sea
From sunrise over the Sea of Cortez to sunset over the Pacific, you can experience wellness by the water in Los Cabos:
- Start the day with light stretching on a Cabo Adventures catamaran while sailing by the iconic Arch of Cabo San Lucas.
- Go whale watching from December to April, from the beach or by boat.
- Take a yacht from the Four Seasons Los Cabos at Costa Palmas marina to explore the UNESCO World Heritage Marine Site Cabo Pulmo.
- Dine by the water, with your toes in the sand.
- Wind down with sunset meditation or sound healing on the beach.

With year-round sunshine, Los Cabos is a playground for outdoor wellness activities. You can:
- Do yoga on the beach.
- Learn to surf, try stand-up paddleboarding, or borrow a kayak.
- Go horseback riding or play volleyball on the beach.
- Head to the East Cape for the largest swimmable beach in Los Cabos.
- Hike to waterfalls in Sierra de la Laguna, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

Treat yourself to a whole day at the spa, with pools, snacks, treatments, classes, and naps.
- Book a Burnout Recovery Massage at Oasis Spa, a 90-minute neuro-wellness experience that blends temperatures, scents, and textures.
- Enjoy spa facility access as a guest of the Four Seasons Los Cabos, anytime during your stay.
- Rotate through the hydro circuit at Tierra Mar Spa, curl up for sound healing with artisan flutes inspired by Mayan culture, and try classes like making your own body scrub from mineral salts and local herbs.

Fill your plate with organic, locally-sourced ingredients. In Los Cabos, there is Baja goodness in every bite.
- Breakfast: Try the mimosa bar at Palmerio and enjoy fresh fruit and yogurt with an ocean view.
- Lunch: Take a cooking class at Flora Farms, just north of San Jose del Cabo. Pick your own ingredients on the 25-acre organic farm and learn how to make mouthwatering salsa and guacamole. Stay for lunch to enjoy salads, handmade tortillas, tamales, and coal-roasted chicken in a gorgeous setting.
- Snack: Order churros to your room at Four Seasons Los Cabos. These are best enjoyed in your own private plunge pool.
- Dinner: Make a reservation to dine at Zest, a tiny restaurant tucked away in the executive chef’s private garden. Pace yourself for a nine-course menu, which may include melon gazpacho, wagyu beef tartare, and lemon pie.

About 80% of the hotel inventory in Los Cabos is in the luxury category, so you’re spoiled for choice when it comes to spoiling yourself. If you’re looking for a luxury beach escape with wellness options and impeccable ocean views, both Four Seasons properties fit the bill.
Four Seasons Resort Cabo Del Sol
Four Seasons Resort Cabo Del Sol is a modern hacienda on the Mexican Riviera. Stay in a guest room, or spread out in a two- to seven-bedroom villa to enjoy la buena vida with good food, drinks, and friends. Some villas have rooftop pools, hot tubs, and fire pits, which make them difficult to leave. Hire a chef to dish up local favorites for your crew, then sleep in beds so comfortable you might miss sunrise.
When you’re ready to head to the main resort and beach, call for a golf cart. The resort is sprawling, so even if it’s fully booked, you won’t notice. Stroll along the beach, try water activities like SUP, and don’t miss the spa. Book a massage that engages all five senses with Mexican incense, a dusting of chamomile flowers, cream, hot stones, warm towels, a scarf for soft stretching, and music for sound healing.
This resort is about 40 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes from the heart of Cabo San Lucas. Book your transportation with Transcabo for reliable, air-conditioned rides with Wi-Fi.
Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos at Costa Palmas
For a more remote stay with a vast beach that stretches to the mountains, head to the East Cape of Los Cabos. Four Seasons Resort and Residences Los Cabos at Costa Palmas also has villas, but you might prefer an oceanview suite with your own private plunge pool. It’s the perfect spot for relaxing in your own backyard, and you can also walk a few steps to the pool or swimmable ocean.
Four Seasons Los Cabos has its own marina, which makes it a great place to stay if you want to explore what Jacques Cousteau called the aquarium of the world. The Sea of Cortez has stunning marine biodiversity, which you can see up close on a snorkel or scuba diving tour.
The spa here, too, is glorious, and you can stay all day even if you haven’t booked a treatment. But of course, you should book a massage. There are a number to choose from that blend of physiology and neurology, and inspire sleeping like a baby at the end of the day.
This resort is closer to an hour away from the airport, and an hour and 40 minutes from Cabo San Lucas.
A Luxury Wellness Getaway in Los Cabos
When you’re ready to indulge in the luxury of taking time for yourself, Los Cabos awaits. It’s a magical destination for slowing down, eating well, and breathing in the beauty of nature. As Daneu of SUDA says, “the revolution of wellness is loving yourself.”
