Wilko has said tent sales are up by 300 per cent compared with last year, while outdoor carts are up by 200 per cent - so it's clear the trend is here to stay.

This year’s highest-rated campsites span the length of Great Britain, from Pembrokeshire to Cumbria, reflecting the continued popularity of outdoor holidays for families.

One wrote: 'No description I can give of the views, and general atmosphere of the site can do it justice. We were lucky enough to have a few hours of clear sky on our second night, and the view of the night sky was just incredible, and even during the rain in the morning the surrounding views of the mountains were gorgeous.'

Folly Farm Holiday Park, situated in Pembrokeshire, Wales, received a 4.98 out of five score from Campsites.co.uk - with 100 per cent of reviewers saying they would recommend the site to fellow campers.
Folly Farm is home to a zoo, a barn and an indoor vintage fairground, as well as outdoor play areas for when the weather is fine.
One visitor wrote: 'Excellent site, really large gravel pitches with water and electric hook-up. Toilets and showers exceptionally clean.
'Right next door to Folly Farm which is great for families, only a few miles from Tenby which is a bonus. Definitely be returning, five stars.'

If you're after a Cornwall camping trip, try Trevalgan Touring Park

'I wish I could give this site more than five stars,' one reviewer raved. 'The amenities were outstanding, the dog play area a wonderful addition. The toilets and showers [were] so clean, spotless. Washing machines and dryers also perfect. I wish we had booked to stay longer. Would love to come back.'
