American Taps Starlink for Wi-Fi on More Than 500 Aircraft

American Airlines announced Tuesday that it is opting for Elon Musk’s Starlink for in-flight Wi-Fi, becoming the latest U.S. carrier to upgrade its satellite connectivity.
American said it will start installing Starlink on more than 500 narrowbody aircraft at the beginning of 2027. Free and fast Wi-Fi is becoming more commonplace in the industry as airlines look to cater more to premium and business travelers. Some of Starlink’s biggest customers in the U.S. include United Airlines, Alaska Airlines, and Southwest Airlines.
