Pat Spillane Labels GAA Fans In Two Counties As 'Disgrace' Over Lack Of Commitment

Dublin will have plenty to be concerned about on the back of their defeat against Louth at the weekend, but one of the worries will be what seems to be the dwindling fan interest surrounding their GAA team.
Saturday's game in Croke Park was a rather miserably attended affair. Just 16,160 supporters made their way to GAA HQ to take in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Round 1 clash.
This has been a developing trend for Dublin fans, who also failed to show up in great numbers for their Leinster final clash against Westmeath. It is estimated that just a third of the 36,536 strong crowd for that game hailed from the capital.
For some, Louth also deserve their share of blame for the weekend's attendance.

Pat Spillane Hammers GAA Fans In Two CountiesPat Spillane was massively critical of Dublin supporters in the aftermath of the Leinster final, suggesting that they had abandoned their team once the unprecedented levels of success of the previous decade were no longer the norm.
He continued that criticism on the Indo GAA Podcast this week. However, he said Louth fans should also be held accountable for not showing up for the game.
They don't even have the support behind them to support them. I know we got huge publicity a couple of weeks ago for Dublin and criticising their support.
16,000 for the population that is in Dublin? And against a Louth team that is only a short couple of minutes up the motorway?
It was an abysmal. An abysmal attendance and a disgrace.
Shame on both sets of supporters, both Dublin and to a less extent Louth.
Louth would achieve their first championship win over Dublin since 1973 in this game, although not a huge amount of their supporters were in attendance to witness the occasion.
They will take on Armagh in the next round of the championship, while Dublin will host Cavan.
