Four Minor Stars That Come From Very Famous GAA Families

Four Minor Stars That Come From Very Famous GAA Families

This weekend's Electric Ireland All-Ireland minor football semi-finals will feature some of the most exciting young talent in the country.

They will also feature a few very familiar surnames.

With Cork facing Derry in Parnell Park on Saturday afternoon after Tyrone take on Kildare in Breffni Park on Friday, a number of players will be looking to take another step towards All-Ireland glory while following in the footsteps of famous relatives.

Four Minor Stars That Come From Very Famous GAA Families Joe Miskella (Cork)

Joe Miskella has already shown signs of leadership well beyond his years during Cork's run to the last four.

The centre-forward captained the Rebels to Munster minor glory against Kerry, scoring a point and delivering a memorable acceptance speech entirely through Irish afterwards.

The surname will already be familiar to Cork supporters.

His father John Miskella was part of the Cork team that won the All-Ireland senior football title in 2010, defeating Down in the final.

Now Joe is hoping to captain the county to success at minor level sixteen years later.

Morgan Corkery (Cork)

Another famous Cork football family is represented in the Rebels squad.

Morgan Corkery is the son of Nemo Rangers legend Colin Corkery, one of the finest forwards produced by the county in the modern era.

Colin won multiple All-Ireland club titles with Nemo Rangers and played a key role for Cork throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s.

His son now finds himself one game away from an All-Ireland minor final.

Conan Canavan (Tyrone)

Few surnames carry more weight in Gaelic football than Canavan.

Conan Canavan is the nephew of Tyrone icon Peter Canavan and has already played a huge role in his county's run to the semi-finals.

The talented forward scored 1-4 in Tyrone's Ulster minor final victory over Derry and has emerged as one of the Red Hands' key attacking threats.

Tyrone will need another big display from him when they face Kildare in Breffni Park.

Tadhg Bradley (Derry)

Derry's hopes of reaching the All-Ireland final are being boosted by another player from a famous footballing family.

Tadhg Bradley is the son of former Derry great Paddy Bradley and the nephew of Eoin 'Skinner' Bradley.

The Glenullin clubman lined out at full-forward in Derry's All-Ireland quarter-final victory over Roscommon and contributed two points from play.

Bradley was also part of the St Patrick's Maghera panel that won this year's MacRory Cup before reaching the All-Ireland schools semi-final, where they were eventually beaten by champions Mullingar CBS.
