Sky rival that lets you watch TV for free offers another big reason to switch

Sky is clearly streaks ahead when it comes to its TV offerings, but using this premium service can get pretty pricey. Even a basic package with a new Sky Stream box starts from £15 per and things can rise to well over £60 when adding Sky Sports, Cinema and other extras such as advert skipping. If that all sounds like far too much for your bank balance to cope with, then there is an alternative that now offers a similar feature to Sky.
The Pleio Puck launched late last year and is powered by the Freely TV platform. This service is much like Sky's latest offerings, with it using the web to beam live and on-demand content to screens rather than a standard aerial or satellite dish.
As its name suggests, Freely is totally free to watch, so once you have the Pleio Puck in your living room, there aren't any extra fees to pay.
When it first arrived, this mini set-top device cost £99, but that price has just been slashed to just £80 for this week. That makes the Pleio box look even more enticing.
Along with the Puck, that price also includes a telly remote for changing channels, 12 months of premium online gaming access and even a PS5-style wireless controller.
Although this gadget doesn't offer the same number of channels as Sky, users can still tune into over 50 live services. Freely also offers the ability to pause and rewind live TV along with getting content recommendations and a full interactive telly guide.
If those 50 live channels don't sound enough then you can always just opt for Sky instead. The firm's Stream box is £15 with the standard bundle or £25 with an Ultimate TV option - this inlcudes extras such as more channels and Disney+ access.
