Sky and Virgin Media are getting a new UK rival that's surprisingly cheap

Sky and Virgin Media remain top choices for homes wanting broadband and TV, but they now have another rival that’s surprisingly cheap. Zzoomm is one of many so-called alternative networks that continue to pop up all over the UK. These providers offer internet access in more localised areas, with speeds and prices often better value than those of the bigger operators. Zzoom already dishes out fast fibre broadband with prices starting from just £20 per month for 200Mbps downloads.
Now the Internet Service Provider (ISP) has confirmed that it will soon let customers get TV access for as little as £5 per month.
Those signing up will get access to the latest Pleio box from Netgem, which not only offers live television via the online Freely platform but also a vast library of online games to play. In fact, over 200 titles are available to play without the need for a console.
“Households are under more pressure than ever, and customers deserve greater choice, flexibility and value for money,” Francesca Lee, Chief Revenue Officer at Zzoomm told ISPreview.
“Zzoomm TV brings together live TV, streaming and gaming in one place without forcing customers to pay for what they don’t need.
“Combined with our full fibre network, Zzoomm TV is another step forward in delivering our brand values: better products, better service, and better value, challenging the status quo of both broadband and now traditional pay-TV.”

Now there are some caveats to this deal, as Zzoomm is only available in certain parts of the UK and does not offer full coverage across Britain.
The Pleio puck can also be purchased directly from Amazon for £99. That includes a year of free cloud gaming. It’s then £9.99 per month after that. So, if you can't sign up to Zzoomm you can still take delivery of that Freely streaming gadget.
Finally, it’s worth noting that the deal from Zzoom doesn’t include any premium content such as Netflix access or channels like Sky Atlantic.
Even basic deals from Sky and Virgin include some form of premium telly access, so it’s worth shopping around if you want more things to watch. We've rounded up a couple of deals from Virgin and Sky, and you can see full pricing below.
