Restart your Chrome browser now - new alert issued to millions of users

If you use Google's Chrome software to access the web, stream movies and read your emails, you might want to check your settings as soon as possible. An urgent Chrome security warning has just been issued, and it's vital that everyone restarts their browser to make sure they are protected.

Google has just confirmed the release of this critical security update that addresses 74 vulnerabilities in Chrome. Among them is a particularly worrying flaw, tracked as CVE-2026-11645, which has been classified as a zero-day vulnerability.

For those not in the know, zero-day vulnerabilities are especially dangerous. That's because the zero-day stamp indicates that cybercriminals are already aware of the vulnerability and may be attacking devices before users have a chance to install a fix.

According to Google, the Stable Channel has been updated to version 149.0.7827.102/.103 for Windows and macOS, and version 149.0.7827.102 for Linux. The rollout will continue over the coming days and weeks.
