Pop star Harry Styles gets green-light to build £30m mansion but there’s a bizarre condition

HARRY Styles was given the go-ahead yesterday for a £30million mansion — so long as he creates a wildlife haven for great tits, hedgehogs and bats.

But the 31-year-old singer and actor must meet a long list of environmental requirements, including for protected bats and other wildlife.

Bat boxes, insect hotels, hedgehog gateways and log piles must be installed at the house in Hampstead, North London.

If he misses the May start deadline from Barnet council, he must have costly surveys done all over again.

Harry’s mansion plans include a master suite with four dressing rooms, a private lounge, gallery space and indoor patio.

The house is expected to take more than two years to build.

Contractors have promised to keep noise down and work “in a neighbourly fashion”.

Well-heeled neighbours were treated to three preview evenings and raised no objections.

Other stars living in Hampstead include singer Lewis Capaldi, Cat Deeley, Patrick Kielty, and James Corden.

2 x Hedgehog Gateways
Small 13cm x 13cm openings in boundary fences to allow hedgehogs to roam between gardens in search of food and mates.
2 x Schwegler 1FFH Bat Boxes
Specially insulated roosting boxes made from durable wood-concrete.
2 x House Martin Nest Boxes
Artificial nests fixed high on buildings to support house martins, which build mud nests under eaves.
2 x Starling Nest Boxes
Designed with larger entrances for starlings, a red-listed species in the UK.
1 x House Sparrow Terrace Nest Box
A triple-chamber box made for house sparrows, which nest in colonies.
2 x Nest Boxes for blue tits, great tits, or house sparrows. Placed in sheltered spots to support small garden birds.
2 x Wren/Robin Nest Boxes
2 x Invertebrate Hotels - “Bug Hotels” packed with bamboo, bark and hollow stems to shelter beetles, solitary bees, ladybirds and other beneficial insects.
