Hoka Boots, Arc'teryx Packs, and More Are On Sale at REI
I'm writing this trapped inside the Esquire offices with a glimpse of a beautiful 70-and-sunny New York City day out the windows. We have plenty of nice furniture. The air in here is purified, sure, but to be cooped up while the sun is shining like this and be able to see outside, it feels like GITMO in here. No idea how I'm going to survive this all summer.
What I'm trying to say, dear reader, is you need to get outside and enjoy this late spring weather for me. You need to enjoy the summer, because I'll be cooped up writing the whole time. I want you to buy this Garmin inReach Mini, the best little satellite communicator on the market, and get way out where there's no cellphone service; toss that iPhone. If you feel unequipped for the wide open outdoors, don't worry. You can get everything you need—except this satellite communicator—at the REI sale.
My advice would be to get some kickass boots, something that you can walk a thousand miles on. I love a Danner Mountain Light, but there are some nice Hokas in this sale. Then, get a pack, like this Arc'teryx Mantis we love. And if you're going to stay overnight, grab a tent too. That's all it takes. Just get outside. Live the life I can't.
