Elementary teacher accused of sexually assaulting student at east-London school

A London public school teacher is facing charges after allegedly sexually assaulting a student over the course of a number of months, police said Friday.

The investigation began last month when police learned a 43-year-old Bonaventure Meadows Public School teacher, Jamie Cain, began emailing a school-aged girl in January of 2025, police said.

It's alleged the teacher, who has been on contract with the school for eight years, brought the girl to his residence in April, where he sexually assaulted her. Officers said the teacher touched the girl inappropriately at school later in June.

Cain is facing charges of sexual assault, sexual interference with a person under the age of 16, and luring a person under 16 years by means of telecommunication.

CBC News has reached out to Cain who declined to comment. He was first registered with the Ontario College of Teachers in 2010, and was listed in good standing at the time police announced the charges.

The Thames Valley District School Board said in an email Friday that Cain has not worked at a TVDSB school this fall, and is not allowed on TVDSB properties. The board was informed of the accusations against him when police laid charges, a spokesperson said.

Police said there may be additional victims, and are appealing to the community to contact police or Crime Stoppers, if they have information.

Supports are being offered to people at the Bonaventure Meadows school community, according to the board, which said a traumatic event response team is on-site.
