Body of teenager, 15, found by police in Lincoln lake


Police have released a tragic update following the search for a 15-year-old boy who disappeared after entering the water at Swanholme Lakes, Lincoln.
The body of Declan Sawyer was discovered by Lincolnshire Police's dive team on Sunday evening,May 24.
Officers were called to the location at 2.30pm that afternoon, after reports emerged of a boy getting into difficulty in the water.
The force said: "Our thoughts are with his family and we send our condolences at this incredibly difficult time.
"This is such a sad incident that will no doubt also affect many of Declan's friends and the local community as well."
Officers added that with half-term beginning, they urge anyone requiring support to reach out for help.
The spokesperson said: "As we are starting half-term week, we ask our community to make sure that anyone affected is looked after and that people are encouraged to seek help and support where they need it.
"Again, we respectfully ask that people do not speculate or share information that has not come from an official source as inaccurate information can be very upsetting to family and friends."
Emergency services, including the Under Water Search Team, assisted with the operation.
The location has remained closed since the teenager vanished, with members of the public urged to stay away from the area.
