Türkiye Expands 2025 Health Tourism Target: 2 Million Tourists, $12 Billion in Revenue

Türkiye has set an ambitious target for health tourism in 2025. The country aims to host 2 million health tourists next year and generate $12 billion in revenue from this sector.
Turkey, which hosted approximately 1.5 million medical tourists in 2024, generated $3 billion in revenue during this period. The highest demand was concentrated in medical surgeries, dental treatments, and aesthetic procedures. Hair transplants and major surgical procedures, in particular, are prominent in Istanbul, while Antalya has become a rapidly rising destination in dental tourism.
In the new era, priority areas include not only medical tourism but also thermal tourism, thalassotherapy, physical therapy, and tourism for the disabled. Hotels in regions with thermal springs, such as Afyon and Mersin, are planned to be integrated into health tourism. Türkiye's biggest competitor in this field is the Czech Republic.
Meanwhile, as of September 2025, all agencies and clinics will be required to register health tourist information in the Ministry of Health's system. This measure aims to prevent unregistered patient movement and increase transparency in data flow.
Türkiye continues to strengthen its position in the global health tourism market with its existing healthcare infrastructure, expert physician staff, developed transportation network and tourism potential.
