Türkiye's first quarter domestic tourism report card has been announced

According to data released by TurkStat , 10.75 million people residing in Turkey traveled between January and March . These people made a total of 12.653 million trips, representing a 28.4% increase compared to the same period last year.
In the first quarter of the year, total overnight stays reached 85,317,000 , with an average length of stay of 6.7 nights . The highest number of overnight stays occurred at the homes of friends or relatives, with 67,654,000 , followed by 8,836,000 stays at their own homes and 4,976,000 stays at hotels .
Travel spending by domestic tourists increased by 68.9 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 76.429 billion Turkish Lira. Of this amount, 71.457 billion Turkish Lira was personal spending and 4.971 billion Turkish Lira was package tour spending. The average expenditure per trip was 6,040 Turkish Lira .
Food and beverage spending accounted for the largest share of spending at 32 percent . Transportation spending accounted for 28.4 percent and accommodation spending for 10.8 percent. Annual increases for these items were 62.5 percent, 66.3 percent, and 66.7 percent, respectively.
The most common reason for travel was "visiting relatives," followed by "travel, entertainment, vacation" at 19.6 percent and "health" travel for 5 percent.
