Nedim Gürel aims for the golden belt in Kırkpınar

The experienced wrestler of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Kağıtspor Club, 36-year-old Gürel, stated in his statement that he was very well prepared for the 664th Historical Kırkpınar Oil Wrestling.

Gürel, who stated that he is ambitious in wrestling, said, "I have done very good work with my trainer since October. I have had a planned and programmed process. Oil wrestling spectators and fans have also observed this in the wrestling matches I have participated in. We have also entered the season well. This year, I feel better physically and mentally than I have ever felt in the last 10 years."

Chief wrestler Gürel stated that he will show all his strength in the Er Meydanı and give a performance worthy of Kırkpınar.

Gürel, who stated that Kırkpınar has a different atmosphere, said, " I will go out on the field on Saturday and do my best. God willing, we will have a very beautiful Kırkpınar, I believe. The atmosphere and spiritual feelings of Kırkpınar are far beyond league wrestling. Three league wrestling matches were held, but our minds and thoughts were always on Kırkpınar. The results there are important in terms of points, but we have been sleeping and waking up for Kırkpınar, so to speak, we have saved our motivation for here."

Gürel said that Kırkpınar is considered the "Olympics" of oil wrestling and that every wrestler's dream is to wear the golden belt.

Gürel, who stated that he would reach the target with his experience and form, emphasized that the aim of everyone participating in Kırkpınar is to put the golden belt around their neck.

Gürel, who stated that he had been preparing his mind for Kırkpınar for months, said, "My goal is to walk from Sarayiçi to the bathhouse with the golden belt on Sunday evening. I am focused on this and I will fight to win."
