Of the 250 classification representatives assigned by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) to ensure the order of matches, 45 admitted to betting and resigned . According to information obtained by Ekonomim columnist Atilla Türker from TFF sources, the representatives assigned to the weekend matches have been reassigned.
Following TFF President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu’s announcement that 371 referees working in the leagues had betting accounts and 152 of them were detected to be placing bets, the spotlight turned to match-fixing scandals in the football world.
According to the report, TFF officials contacted 250 representatives, assigned to three or four players in the Super League, depending on the difficulty of the match, and one or two players in the First League, depending on the difficulty of the match, by phone or text message. They asked whether they had placed bets in the last five years. The names of those who had placed bets but had not reported them will be made public after the identification, based on their Turkish ID numbers, is made.
Forty-five representatives admitted to betting and informed the TFF. Following this, the representatives were asked to resign from their positions. As of yesterday, the 45 representatives submitted their resignation letters to the federation. The 45 players who admitted to betting and were assigned to the weekend matches were removed from the rosters. New players have been selected for the matches.
