Istanbul Airport is at the top of Europe: leader with 1,556 daily flights

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu assessed the European Aviation Outlook Report, published by the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL), dated October 23. According to the report, Turkey has the sixth-busiest traffic in Europe with an average of 3,841 flights per day, surpassing countries such as Greece, the Netherlands, Poland, and Norway.

“Istanbul Airport has surpassed major hubs such as Amsterdam Schiphol, Frankfurt, Paris Charles de Gaulle and London Heathrow,” he said.
Uraloğlu also shared that Antalya Airport is the 9th busiest airport in Europe with an average of 957 flights per day, and pointed out that Türkiye holds a significant position in European air traffic with its two major airports.
In the top 10 of the world rankingsAccording to EUROCONTROL data, Istanbul Airport ranked 7th globally with an average of 790 daily departures between October 13 and 19. Thus, the airport crowned its European leadership with global success.
In his statement, Uraloğlu emphasized Türkiye's achievements in aviation, saying, "Istanbul Airport has become one of the most important global aviation hubs, not only in Europe but in the world. Our goal is to further strengthen this position."
