Türk Telekom will build the cities of the future with 5G

Türk Telekom, Türkiye's leader in digital transformation, is pioneering next-generation city transformation technologies that contribute to the digitalization processes of local governments. The number of cities under construction has increased to 51 in the projects launched by Türk Telekom under the "Next Generation Cities" vision, aiming to build cities with a higher quality of life, sustainability, and greater accessibility. Working with 119 institutions in 51 cities, Türk Telekom is implementing pioneering projects focused on efficiency and sustainability in a wide range of areas, from smart transportation systems to energy management.

Making a statement ahead of World Urban Planning Day on November 8th, Türk Telekom Deputy General Manager of Marketing and Customer Experience Zeynep Özden said, “ As Türk Telekom, we are pioneering digital transformation and undertaking projects that touch all areas of life with our strategy that puts people at the center. As part of our “New Generation Cities” vision, we are implementing efficiency and sustainability-focused projects that transfer our technological know-how to many areas such as transportation, energy, environment, health , and security. We are increasing efficiency and savings with the smart city solutions we have implemented in 51 provinces. Today, smart cities are a fundamental element of both economic and social development. We equip cities with our robust end-to-end infrastructure and undertake projects that will provide economic and social benefits in every field that can be associated with technology and digitalization. With the advantages offered by 5G, which we will transition to in April 2026, we aim to make city life more sustainable, accessible, and comfortable through sensor networks, autonomous systems, and real-time data sharing, drawing on our strong fiber infrastructure and the experience gained from our pioneering work in 5G. We celebrate World Urban Planning Day on November 8th, “We continue our work for 81 New Generation Cities and a Turkey connected with 5G,” he said.
Savings and efficiency increase with smart city solutions
In line with Türk Telekom's "Next Generation Cities" vision, smart city solutions and applications contribute to savings and efficiency in many areas. Türk Telekom's digitalization of urban development processes project has resulted in significant fuel savings, while lighting projects implemented in cities are also contributing to energy savings.
