Floods following heavy rain in Yemen cause numerous casualties

Heavy rains in Yemen have caused floods in various parts of the country. The death toll from the floods, which occurred in the provinces of Shabwah, Hadhramaut, Lahij, and Hajj, has risen to seven. Five of those killed were reportedly children.
Authorities in the Tuben district of Lahij announced that one person died in the floodwaters and five people were rescued. The flooding destroyed some houses and caused significant damage.
The Yemeni Ministry of Interior announced that three people, including two children, died after being swept away by floodwaters in Shabwah and Hadhramaut. The Meteorological and Early Warning Center also announced that rains would continue in the coming hours and urged the public to take precautions.
A report published on the Houthi-affiliated 26 September Net website reported that a house in the Hajj province was destroyed by floodwaters and three children lost their lives.
There are fears that the death toll will rise following the disaster. Heavy rains in Yemen are disrupting life in many parts of the country.
