Chinese tourist admired Trabzon…

China has become a huge market that attracts the world's attention with its population and tourism activity that attracts 150 million people every year.

Located on the historical Silk Road route, Trabzon introduced the city's natural beauties, historical texture and tourism potential to fair visitors at the Silk Road International Tourism Fair held in Xi'an. The Trabzon stand at the fair became the focal point for visitors throughout the event. The fair, organized by the Shaanxi Culture and Tourism Department of China, was attended by more than 5,000 tourism and cultural organizations from 73 countries and regions around the world. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the three-day fair, Trabzon Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Tamer Erdoğan drew attention to the tourism relations between China and Türkiye and said the following:

"After the People's Republic of China declared Türkiye as an official tourism destination in 2001, relations have continued to develop every year. We are sure that our relations will be taken to an even higher level thanks to this fair. Trabzon, the city where the historical Silk Road first reached the sea, will be very happy to host Chinese visitors with its natural and historical riches. We also hope that this fair will be a means for the establishment of strong ties between Xi'an and Trabzon. We are very happy that you accepted our city as your honored guest."

Drawing attention to the importance of China in tourism, TİSAD President Murat Çavga said the following on the subject:

"China has become a huge market that attracts the world's attention with its population and tourism activity that 150 million people participate in every year. However, Turkey cannot get a sufficient share from this market. Trabzon can be an attractive destination for Chinese tourists with its natural beauties and cultural infrastructure. Our location on the historical Silk Road is of great importance in this respect. The fact that the name of the fair is the Silk Road Tourism Fair also excited us. I would like to thank all stakeholders who contributed to this project in line with our vision of opening up to new markets."

The delegation representing Trabzon in China at the event includes Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Gürkan Üçüncü, Provincial Culture and Tourism Director Tamer Erdoğan, Support Services Department Director Kadir Hatipoğlu, Trabzon Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vice President Ali Haydar Baş, TİSAD President Murat Çavga, Turkish Chinese Culture Association President and Ligarba Tourism Board of Directors President İrfan Karslı, Mercure Hotel Board of Directors President Tuncay Yiğit, Mercure Hotel General Manager Tuncay Beyaz, Ekol Event Board of Directors President Cengiz Çiftci and Best Western Hotel Sales Manager İrem Birinci.
