Busy agenda in Parliament this week: Budget marathon begins Friday

The budget marathon is beginning in the Turkish Grand National Assembly . The 2025 Central Government Budget Bill will be submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly on Friday, October 17. The Turkish Grand National Assembly is entering a busy week.
The 2026 Central Government Budget Law Proposal will be submitted to the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on Friday, October 17, and the proposal will be referred to the Planning and Budget Commission.
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz is expected to present the proposal to the Planning and Budget Commission on October 22. Following the presentation, commission members will have a one-week recess to prepare.
The overall budget will be discussed in the Planning and Budget Committee on October 30th, and the budgets of individual ministries and institutions will begin to be discussed the following day. Following approximately a month of deliberations in the committee, the budget bill will be submitted to the General Assembly.
The Highway Traffic Bill, which was not discussed in the Turkish Grand National Assembly last week, is expected to be discussed this week. The 36-article proposal stipulates substantial fines for numerous offenses, including red light and lane violations, driving under the influence or without a license, failing to yield to an ambulance, and using a cell phone while driving. Those driving without a license will pay a fine of 40,000 lira. The fine for using fake license plates will be 140,000 lira.
COMMISSIONSA statement from the Turkish Grand National Assembly regarding the agenda of the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission this week is expected. The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) will present "Activities to Prevent Discrimination Against Higher Education Students" to the Human Rights Investigation Commission's Prevention of Discrimination Subcommittee on Wednesday, October 15th. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will present on Turkey-EU relations to the EU Harmonization Commission on Wednesday, October 15th.
The bills "Amending the National Parks Law, Certain Other Laws, and Decree Law No. 375," and "Amending the Foundations Law and Certain Other Laws," submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly by the AKP last Friday, will be discussed in the committee. The parties' group meetings will be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
