The death that devastated Türkan Şoray

Director and screenwriter Ali Özgentürk has passed away at the age of 80. Documentary producer Nebil Özgentürk announced the news of his brother's death with the words, "He was a theater actor in his youth and a filmmaker for 50 years. He was the father of Simay and Dünya. He was the director of 15 films in total. He was the scriptwriter of 'Selvi Boylum Al Yazmalım'. I am very sorry."

The first ceremony for Ali Özgentürk will take place today at 14:00 at Beyoğlu Atlas Cinema, and the second ceremony will take place at Adana Metropolitan Municipality City Theatre on May 17. The artist will be buried in Akkapı Cemetery in Adana following the noon prayer on the same day.

Türkan Şoray, the lead actress of "Selvi Boylum Al Yazmalım", the script of which was written by Ali Özgentürk, also expressed her sadness with a post she shared on her Instagram account.

Şoray, who published her photos with Özgentürk, said, "We lost my very valuable colleague Ali Özgentür. I am deeply saddened. He was the scriptwriter of 'Selvi Boylum Alyazmalım', which was loved by everyone, together with Atıf Yılmaz. We said 'Love is Labor' in the movie. He was also the director of my movie 'Hazal'. The movie Hazal also won the best movie award at the San Sebastian International Film Festival. His place in cinema will never be filled. I pray to God to have mercy on him and patience for his relatives."
