Armağan Çağlayan lashed out at the news that 'Drugs were found in Metin Arolat's blood'

Singer, songwriter and director Metin Arolat, who has made music videos for many songs in Turkish pop music, fell ill and collapsed to the ground while performing at a hotel in Kozyatağı, Istanbul, on September 20, 2024, and died in the hospital to which he was taken.

Arolat, 52, was said to have died suddenly from a diet he had been on for a long time. It was also suggested that Arolat had received an energizing serum under the guise of home health care before his death, and that the supplement may have triggered his heart attack.

According to the news in Sabah newspaper yesterday, the Forensic Medicine Institution, which conducted an investigation into the cause of Arolat's death, prepared the autopsy report. The report prepared by the Morgue Specialization Department of the Forensic Medicine Institution was sent to the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. According to the allegations; ethyl alcohol and narcotics were detected in the blood samples taken from Metin Arolat. The report recorded the cause of death as a heart attack.

Producer Armağan Çağlayan lashed out at the news in question. Çağlayan, who said his close friend did not use alcohol or drugs, described Metin Arolat's last moments on stage as follows:

"I don't know what the purpose of this news is, to be honest. But Metin didn't drink alcohol. But there is a detail that was told to me about that night. One of the customers sends a drink to the stage. Metin drinks it. In fact, after a while, the area between his chest burns. Then he goes backstage. And he tells the employees that the man sent alcohol, he raises his glass and I drink it. He has to. It burned my chest so strong. I wish I hadn't drunk it. He says. It turns out that he was having a heart attack at that moment. He attributes this burning in his chest to drinking. The employees want to take him to the doctor. He says no, it's because of drinking, I'm not used to drinking. Maybe if he hadn't drunk he would have realized he was having an attack and gone to the doctor."

"As for the drugs part, Metin has been my friend for 25 years. I have never seen him using drugs. I have never come across him under the influence of drugs! There is no peace for the living, I wish we would at least leave the dead alone!"
